Excited to kick off the season next weekend? Are you thinking that you’d enjoy a higher level of competition on the fields while also representing Minnesota in flag football tournaments? Interest forms for the MNGFFL’s travel team, the Lumberjocks, are now available!
As a part of the National Gay Flag Football League (NGFFL), the MNGFFL sends players to compete against 22+ other cities in national tournaments across the country. The next tournament, Pride Bowl, takes place June 23-26 in Chicago, IL. The team will practice twice a week (that schedule below), be expected to cover the financial costs associated with travel, lodging, and registration, and live out the MNGFFL’s player code of conduct as ambassadors of the league in national tournaments.
If you’ve never played on the Lumberjocks before but are on the fence, we greatly encourage you to fill out an interest form and come out to the first practice to get a sense of it. While the competition is higher, there should be a great mix of returning players and rookies to help build off of last year’s undefeated Pride Bowl team! Reminder that in order to be eligible, you must have played in one of the MNGFFL's last two seasons, or be new to Minnesota.
Lumberjocks practices will be held at 6pm at Logan Park on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. Players are asked to prioritize practice attendance, and to communicate in advance any absences they may have: 5/10, 5/11, 5/17, 5/18, 5/24, 5/25, 6/1, 6/7, 6/8, 6/14, 6/15, 6/21.
If you have any questions about the team, expectations of players, or time/financial commitments, please contact travel@mngffl.com. Otherwise, please fill out the player interest form.
